I’m pleased to share the news that Laura Schlett has accepted our invitation to be the part-time Stewardship Coordinator during the interim year. Laura will begin her work on November 1, and will work with the Stewardship/Development Committee, with the associate and program staff, and with me — assisting us in completing the annual effort this year, including helping us reach “The Match,” and serve as a core person in the annual effort for 2022.
Laura has been a member of Bethesda since moving to Lake Worth Beach in 2017. In early 2021 she was elected to the Vestry for a three year term and until recently was the chair of the Outreach Committee, including overseeing the allocations process of the large volume of resources going to important agencies and ministries. Laura is also a lay Reader, a participant in Education for Ministry, and she has volunteered for Boar’s Head, Empty Bowls, Middle Way, adult forums, and she has been a lay preacher.
Born and raised in New Jersey, she graduated from Gettysburg College with a BS in Biology and from George Washington University with a Masters in Forensic Science. Over the past 20 years, Laura has homeschooled her four children.
In addition to her new ministry among us, Laura also works as a freelance writer and editor and co-hosts the podcast “Being Truly.” She has volunteered at Friends of the Library, as a homeschool mentor, and as head of transcription for the documentary “The Girl Who Wore Freedom.”
Please extend to Laura a warm Bethesda welcome.
