Youth, 8th grade or older, who are interested in the rite of Confirmation, are encouraged to attend our year long youth confirmation program, Confirm Not Conform (CnC). They have reached an age when they may be ready to make a mature affirmation of their faith and commitment to God in Christ in the sacramental rite of confirmation. The innovative approach of CnC provides young people the opportunity to build their spiritual lives as they prepare themselves for Confirmation.
Confirm Not Conform focuses on helping young people ask the tough questions and search out the answers. A team of Clergy, lay leaders, and mentors will lead our youth through interactive classroom work, required assignments, field trips, mentor relationships and the challenge to do a whole lot more than just learn a few facts. CnC lets kids take real responsibility for understanding their faith and its power. When they do - when they see the church and faith as something that truly belongs to them, rather than something they're forced to accept - it builds a bond that lasts.
Confirmation Sunday at Bethesda-by-the-Sea will be May 6, 2012. Youth who decide to confirm their faith publicly affirming their baptismal vows will receive the laying-on-of-hands and prayer for the Holy Spirit by our Diocesan Bishop, the Right Reverend Leo Frade. Confirmation classes are led by a team of clergy, laity, and mentors.
