Youth Formation

Sunday

Youth classes meet most Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 11:00 a.m. downstairs.  No registration is necessary for participation

Pre-Confirmation Class (6th-7th Grade) | 9:45 a.m. | Library
Pre-teens have a lot of questions about faith and life. Our Pre-Confirmation Class is designed to engage those questions in a fun and interactive way.

We start things off this year by talking about who the 12 disciples were that followed Jesus around and why they’re still important today.

Confirmation Class (8th Grade) | 9:45 a.m. | ECW Room
The Bethesda Confirmation Class is an opportunity for young teenagers to learn more about the beliefs, rites, and rituals of the Episcopal Church. Participants also have the opportunity to be confirmed at the next bishop’s visitation.

Pilgrimage Group (9th-12th Grade) | 9:45 a.m. | Youth Room
Each year, our Bethesda high schoolers work on a year-long pilgrimage or mission project.  In 2021-2022, our youth will be organizing a pilgrimage to northern Spain, walking the Camino Ingles to Santiago de Compostela. A pilgrimage is an ancient Christian practice of taking a spiritual journey, usually by foot, to visit a holy site. It is an opportunity to empty oneself through physical, mental, and spiritual exertion in order to be filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit through community, curiosity, and discovery.

The Pilgrimage Class is open to all high school youth in 9th-12th Grade.  We meet weekly in the Youth Room on Sunday mornings from 9:45-11:00 a.m.. Members of the group are also asked to participate in occasional fundraising projects and special events. The 2022 Spain Pilgrimage is scheduled for June 8-16, 2022.  Pre-registration is required in order to have an accurate group count for travel purposes.

Wednesday

Bethesda Youth Group | 6:00 p.m. | Youth Room
For teenagers, Bethesda offers a regular weekly youth group on Wednesday nights for all youth in 6th-12th Grade. The Bethesda Youth Group balances fascinating conversations about faith with time for fun and games. We also have many special events over the course of the year including annual Universal Studios and camping trips as well as volunteer opportunities with local outreach organizations.

Our first series for the year will explore some of the spiritual beings that are mentioned in the bible, but we may not have a full grasp on what they are, things like angels, demons, saints, and more.

The Bethesda Youth Group meets on Wednesday evenings in the Youth Room. We begin with dinner at 6:00 p.m. and end with prayer in the church at 7:45 p.m.. The group is open to all youth in 6th-12th Grade. No registration is necessary to participate.
