Dear Fellow Parishioners,

One of the most common questions we have been asked is how to best express our thanks to Father James and Father Burl.

First, please come to the farewell services and receptions for Father Burl on May 30th and for Father James on June 27th when each will preach a farewell sermon. We will have an opportunity on that day to wish them well as we formally mark the conclusion of their ministry at Bethesda.

Next, a traditional practice in the church is to make a financial contribution to each as a token of thanks. The best way to contribute is through a check payable to the priest. These are not tax-deductible since they are personal gifts given directly to the priest.  If inclined to do so, you may choose to bring your gift to the service or mail it to the church office. All gifts received in advance will be shared at their respective receptions. Any received afterwards will be forwarded to them. Since they are both moving some distance, we ask that you refrain from gifts that must be shipped.

We would like both Father James and Father Burl to know that they go from here to their new ministries with our full support and blessing.  Please express your gratitude and support their transitions as you see fit.

Warm regards,
