Dear Bethesda Family,
As we finish the Easter season and begin to plan for the remainder of the year, we have two important announcements.
First, since last summer, the Rector Search Committee has conducted a thorough discernment process to identify Bethesda’s next Rector. After reviewing dozens of candidates in an expansive and thorough vetting process, including interviews with candidates in their home parishes and at Bethesda, the Committee has determined that the discernment process should continue. We have not yet identified the individual whom we wish to call as our next Rector and are continuing the process. We remain steadfast in seeking an experienced candidate with the right character and skills to be our next Rector; we will not settle. More details will be posted shortly in an update on our website.
While we had originally hoped for the Rector search to be completed by this summer, the Progress Arrow in Bethesda’s website has always indicated that the final call of our new Rector would happen “in God’s time.”
April 2022 Update
Second, we are pleased to announce that Bob Dannals has accepted our invitation to continue as Interim Rector through the end of 2022. Bob will lead Bethesda while still meeting his previously scheduled commitments during the summer and fall. As before, he will be relying upon talented clergy and lay staff for the day to day running of the church. We will share more details in upcoming announcements.
We are enthusiastic and hopeful about both the continuing search and our plans for the remainder of 2022. We ask all of you to keep our search process and Bethesda in your prayers.
Warm regards,
The Vestry and the Rector Search Committee
